A Winning Tradition

The San Diego State University baseball program has a long tradition of excellence. Through the years, the Aztecs have produced numerous major-league stars, led by Tony Gwynn, a former Aztec standout and eight-time National League batting champion. Known as "Mr. Padre" for his 20-year career with the San Diego Padres, Gwynn has served as SDSU's head coach since 2002. Stephen Strasburg, a former Aztec and the 2009 number 1 overall MLB draft pick for the Washington Nationals, returns to give back to the San Diego community.
